Taekwondo is a Korean martial system of physical education and mental development. Taekwondo (also spelled Tae Kwon Do, Taekwon-do, 태 권도) literally means “Foot Fist Way” or loosely translates to “The way of the fist and foot.”

Taekwondo is the national sport of South Korea and an official medal event of the Olympic Summer Games.

Traditional Taekwondo consists of a variety of striking and blocking methods with the hands / fists, elbows, and knees, with great emphasis on offensive and defensive kicking techniques.

Olympic Taekwondo sparring started in the 1988 Olympic Games as a demonstration event and evolved into a full medal event in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Competitive Taekwondo sparring is a fast, exciting, full contact martial sport with emphasis on a wide range of kicking techniques as well as footwork, quickness, distancing, and reactive motion.

Our Taekwondo curriculum focuses on a rich technical understanding of the entire Kukkiwon (traditional) Taekwondo discipline as well as current World Taekwondo Federation (Olympic) sparring methods, delivering tangible results in fitness, stamina, co-ordination, balance, and flexibility.

In addition to the physical aspects, our Taekwondo program also promotes discipline, respect, confidence, focus, and overall personal cultivation.
